BHUBANESWAR: Union petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday mentioned the Centre is able to lengthen a serving to hand to open e-NAM centres in 57 sub-divisions of Odisha for simple advertising of farm produces.

He mentioned this while attending the valedictory ceremony of AgriVikas 2018, a two-day national-level workshop, organised at Siksha 'O' Anusandhan (SOA) deemed to be university here.

Pradhan mentioned the poor farmers of the state will get honest value of their agricultural produce in the course of the e-NAM or e-National Agriculture Market (NAM). Even a tribal guy from Koraput can sale his produce to a dealer in Delhi with a better value than local market, he added.

The e-NAM is an all India electronic trading portal which networks the present agricultural produce advertising committee (APMC) mandis to create a unified nationwide marketplace for agricultural commodities. It was once introduced by the Centre in 2016.

Odisha has 10 e-NAM centres. Some centres are Kuchinda in Sambalpur, Paralakhemundi in Gajapati, Kesinga in Kalahandi and Sakhigopal in Puri district. “We are able to cooperate with the state government to help our farmers. If we open these facilities, farmers will get most receive advantages,” he added.


He mentioned China needs non-Basmati rice from India. “Odisha produces more than 5 million tonne non-Basmati rice and we will export a minimum of 1,000,000 tonne to our neighbouring country to get excellent global value for our produce. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) also desires India to export agricultural produce to this golfing country. We simplest export 18 in keeping with cent, however the UAE desires it to convert to 80 in keeping with cent. So now we have a very good probability to sale our farm produce in global market,” he added.


He mentioned Odisha produces 40,000 tonne prawn via cultivation and will get 20,000 tonne from the sea. “We export it to China and Japan and these nations sell it to the US after processing. This is the time we need to make it sure that our prawn or marine produce can be exported to the US at once,” he recommended.


He put emphasis on technology of Bio-CNG gas from agricultural produce and described how Bio-CNG can give a contribution Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s missions of decreasing import gasoline dependence and lengthening farmers’ income.
