Coimbatore: The city police arrested a 31-year-old Velandipalayam resident and seized faux currency notes of Rs 2,000 denomination with a face value of Rs 1.18 crore from him on Friday evening. They have also seized a colour photocopying system and a pc.
Police known him as B Ananth of Maruthakonar Street at Velandipalayam, who used to be fascinated about several two-wheeler robbery circumstances. “On Friday night, a police staff undertaking car checks on Thadagam Road had faced Anath. They found 4 Rs 2,000 currency notes in his shirt pocket, which turned out to be faux,” a police officer mentioned.
Ananth advised police that he had made the faux notes the use of a photocopying system with the assistance of his buddies Sundar and Yusuf, who hailed from Karamadai. “They are the masterminds of the racket. Sundar took a room on hire at Velandipalayam one-and-a-half-month in the past and from there they have been making faux Rs 2,000 currency notes the use of a colour photocopying system. They have been taking photocopies of authentic Rs 2,000 currency notes to distribute them with other serial numbers,” the officer advised TOI.
Ananth took police to the room, from the place they seized 5,904 Rs 2,000 faux currency, a printer, colour ink bottles, a photocopying system, a troublesome disk, a pc, a mobile phone, a motorcycle and bundles of white papers.
“Sundar is knowledgeable desiger. He scanned Rs 2,000 notes and used to be the use of quite a lot of colour inks to make the faux notes seem like the unique. The trio used to be making plans to circulate the notes they made in and round Coimbatore,” a senior police officer mentioned.
Police have formed a distinct staff to nab Sundar and Yusuf. Saibaba Colony police have registered a case in opposition to the trio underneath sections 489 (A), (B), (C), (D) of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation is on.
