Cop suffers cardiac arrest during operation

MANGALURU: A group of workers of the Anti-Naxal Force (ANF), who used to be a part of the combing operation in reserve forests of Sullia taluk, used to be hospitalised after suffering from critical cardiac arrest on Saturday.

The group of workers has been identified as Rangaswamy, 48, belonging to the first battalion of ANF. Ravikanthegowda, superintendent of police, DK, informed STOI that 3 battalions were combing in and around Sullia woodland after 3 arm-wielding Naxals, together with two girls, were allegedly observed in residential areas on Thursday. While the operation used to be on around 30km within the woodland, Rangaswamy from the first battalion suffered a critical cardiac arrest. His colleagues straight away made preparations to deliver him to the sanatorium and now he is being treated on the government sanatorium. His situation is important, Ravikanthegowda added.

On June 14, 3 suspected armed naxals arrived on the house of Thomas A J around 7.45pm. Threatening with palms, they took away food prepared for the family and had it outside house. Later, the group left from the spot and so they were conversing in Telugu. Police who're undertaking a probe stated that when villagers were asked to identify with photos that are to be had in the database of police, none of them matched.
