MANGALURU: After a long time of deficit, rainfall in Dakshina Kannada breached its standard rainfall record for the first six months, by registering 59mm additional rain.
The rainfall figures display that the district gained additional 59mm ahead of the top of June, indicating that the district is all set to receive above moderate monsoon. While the district records 1,176.2mm of standard rainfall from January to June, this 12 months the rainfall has been 1,235.3mm, an extra 59mm that too with 10 extra days to move for the top of the month. Last 12 months, the district had gained 638.4mm a deficit of 537.eight mm. In the previous years too, the monsoon-health of the district wasn’t too rosy.
Of the five taluks, Mangaluru taluk gained the absolute best amount of rainfall at 1,358mm in the first eight months – due to the May 29 deluge which recorded over 280mm of rainfall in a single day. With the eight month standard rainfall for Mangaluru taluk being 1,248mm, the taluk gained 110mm of extra rainfall. Last 12 months the eight month rainfall was once part at 642mm.
The other taluks, barring Bantwal, gained more than the standard eight month rainfall. Bantwal taluk gained 1,107mm of rainfall which is 111mm lower than the standard eight month rainfall for Bantwal taluk.
Good rainfall in June
The district gained 735mm of rainfall in the first 20 days of the month, which is simply 200mm in need of standard moderate for June month (942mm). With every other 10 days to move and Met division predicting good rains, this too might be breached. Last 12 months, the June month had gained lower than part at 468mm as on June 20. Among the taluks, Belthangady has gained absolute best rainfall at 834mm until June 20 and the June moderate for the taluk is 977mm. Last 12 months the taluk had gained 540mm until June 20.

The district recorded 92mm of rainfall in the closing 24 hours from eight.30am of Tuesday. Mangaluru taluk gained the absolute best rainfall of 130 mm, with Belthangady taluk receiving the least at 68mm. Bantwal, Sullia and Puttur taluks gained 117, 73 and 72mm of rainfall, respectively. Last 12 months the district had gained 3.6mm of rainfall at the similar day. The district receives 941mm of rainfall as standard moderate until June end and this 12 months. The rainfall has been 735mm in the first 20 days of the month. Last 12 months it was once 468mm of rainfall until June 20.
