Dug-up road, open drains rile Sector 7 residents

GURUGRAM: Civic workers resumed work on a 500-metre-long stretch of the principle highway in Sector 7 on Monday after a gap of one-and-a-half months following repeated complaints from local citizens.
According to the citizens, workers had left the stretch dug up with construction materials mendacity in every single place.

Also, drains along the stretch were left open, placing citizens’ lives at risk.

Though the work has been resumed, workers engaged within the venture stated it might take a minimum of 10 days extra to mend the broken stretch and make it motorable.

However, the prolong within the work has been inflicting hassle for local citizens, particularly at night.

“Chances of accidents have increased in this broken stretch. I have had slender escapes on numerous events over the last couple of weeks whilst negotiating the development materials scattered at the highway,” Deepanshi, who research at an institute there, stated as she parked her scooty at the roadside.


In fact, in step with local people, there had been some minor accidents because of the open drains lately.


“There had been incidents of youngsters falling into the drains over the last few days. Though the drains aren't too deep, a fall can anyway cause injuries,” stated Anushka, who lives within the area.


Another resident Osheen Kalra stated the development materials, mendacity at the highway for the past few weeks, had been inflicting snarls as large cars were not able to cross during the stretch.
