COIMBATORE: An elephant calf was once discovered lifeless near an elephant proof trench at Valkaradu woodland region near Narasipuram at Pooluvapatti at the outskirts of the town.
According to a woodland department legit, anti-poaching watchers noticed the carcass of the calf, which was once elderly between 15 and 18 months, right through a patrol accountability on Saturday night time. The carcass was once discovered near the trench that was once set up around a farmland at Valkaradu, the legit said.
When alerted, woodland officials rushed to the spot. Government veterinary dispensary doctor carried out the postmortem and as in line with initial reports the calf had died only a few hours prior to the group discovered the carcass.
Explaining that the calf would have come what may separated from its mom, the legit quoting the post-mortem document said the calf died due to lack of nutrients from mom’s milk. The document additionally said that the calf were consuming only flooring fodder for days.
The legit said they hadn’t earlier come across a case where a calf has died of lack of nutrients from mom’s milk. “Apart from a small injury in its mouth region, there have been no different wounds in its body,” the legit added.
The carcass was once later buried in the woodland region.
