Gauri Lankesh murder: 6th accused arrested

BENGALURU: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the homicide of Gauri Lankesh on Tuesday showed that a 6th accused has been arrested within the case and secured his custody for 14 days after generating him in a courtroom within the afternoon.

The move comes hours after TOI reported that the SIT had picked up the person, who used to be believed to have pulled the cause at the journalist, from Maharashtra.



SIT officials stated Parashuram Waghmore, 26, from Sindagi in Vijayapura district, were picked up from the Maharashtra-Karnataka border. They refused to substantiate if he used to be the person who killed Gauri.

TOI has learnt that Parashuram alias Parasu and another person had taken refuge in a room in Sunkadakatte, off Magadi Road, west Bengaluru, for a couple of days all the way through August-September 2017 and carried out recces of Gauri Lankesh's residence in Rajarajeshwarinagar, 12km away.

Sujith asked me to offer refuge to 2 men in my room. They had been talking in Hindi and Marathi. Parashu informed me he used to be from Sindagi. They had been gathering details on Gauri Lankesh. They visited her space. They had been in touch with Naveen Kumar,” an SIT supply quoted from Suresh’s commentary.

KT Naveen Kumar used to be the first to be arrested within the Gauri case.

SIT resources stated the 2 men left Suresh’s room at the morning of September five, 2017. “On that day, they left my space around 11am and returned around 2.30pm. They went out again around 3pm and returned around four.30pm. They left again around 6pm,” Suresh Kumar stated in a commentary.
