Hyderabad a step closer to end parking woes

HYDERABAD: Is Hyderabad after all gearing as much as bid good-bye to parking woes? With the federal government firm on striking an end to this mess, the town might witness as many as 100 multi-level parking complexes in more than a few places. The government will have interaction an agency to arrange designs for these parking lots.



"Forty-two locations having government land have been identified. The government will call for an expression of interest (EoI) from interested private parties by this month-end," chief secretary (CS) Shailendra Kumar Joshi informed TOI.


Private parking complicated owners have a lot to cheer as they are more likely to get sops reminiscent of additional built-up space, more industrial house than stipulated in building rules, belongings tax exemption or rebate except for collection of parking charge after obligatory free parking time. "Private parties who have more than 500 sq yard land in prime locations can come forward to construct these parking lots. The designs will be finalised based on the availability of the land and parking demand," the CS stated.


The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited, which is the nodal agency for the parking complexes, is getting ready guidelines beneath PPP mode. "Specific guidelines are being prepared by studying parking policies in countries such as Germany, Japan, China, South Korea and the US," HMRL managing director NVS Reddy informed TOI. A parking complicated is being developed at Nampally as a pilot challenge, he stated.
