GANDHINAGAR: The Gujarat government on Tuesday declared that any one harassing the Asiatic lions by means of organizing unlawful lion shows, chasing lions on cars and making unlawful video clips of the Big Cats will now attract severe penal action beneath section nine of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. Government warned that those stuck traumatic the king of the jungle will invite imprisonment of up to seven years.
The government also introduced to form a unmarried authority to control the entire lionscape which is lately ruled by means of 4 different government.
State woodland minister Ganpat Vasava said: “We have asked woodland officials to invoke searching fees beneath section nine of the act as any criminal activity reminiscent of retaining unlawful lion shows, harassing lions in rushing cars and even making clips of the Big Cats on mobile phones falls in the ambit of searching."
"Hunting, as in keeping with the act does no longer mean best killing of lions, and also applies to harassing of the Schedule I animal. Until now, we were best implementing section of trespassing," Vasava added.

On Tuesday, Vasava declared 13-point conservation plan to position a stop to menacingly emerging man-animal conflict in Asiatic lion's habitat which has a population of 523 lions as in keeping with Census 2015 unfold over 22,000 sq.km throughout 1500 villages in Gir sanctuary in Junagadh and adjascent districts of Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir-Somnath and Porbandar.
