Heavy rain likely in parts of Mumbai today: Met

MUMBAI: After a dry spell over the previous few days, the city may see "isolated heavy rain showers" on Sunday, consistent with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast. These showers are not prone to be as heavy because the rain witnessed in the city on June nine, the legit date of the onset of the monsoon this 12 months.

Warning indicators of the heavy rain that has been forecast were witnessed via Saturday evening. There were even heavy showers in the japanese and western suburbs. Earlier in the day, various portions of the city and suburbs won intermittent rain.


On Saturday, the Met observatory in Colaba recorded 34.2 mm of rain and the Santacruz observatory, 33.6 mm. Rainfall recorded between June nine and 10 at Colaba was 164 mm and at Santacruz, 100 mm, which fell in the heavy rain class.


For Sunday, the IMD predicts intermittent rain in the city and suburbs with heavy rainfall at remoted places. Weather officials mentioned that stagnation in additional advancement of the southwest monsoon is most probably for every week. Nitha T, a Met department scientist, mentioned that an offshore trough from Kerala to Goa and cyclonic flow over the Arabian Sea would convey the city rain.


Saturday's showers resulted in a dip in maximum temperature. In Colaba, it dropped from 33.nine levels Celsius on Friday to 29 levels, whilst in Santacruz it dropped from 32.6 to 32 levels Celsius.
