GUWAHATI: Union minister of state for human useful resource development Satyapal Singh on Monday praised the standard robe donned by means of IIT-Guwahati passouts on the 20th convocation of the institute and described it as a 'sparkling instance of decolonized Indian minds.'

Beginning his cope with with a Sanskrit sloka, Singh mentioned it is prime time for doing an in-depth analysis of historical manuscripts and texts by means of modern day scientists if the rustic has to compete with China. Appealing to scholars and researchers to adopt best possible of the scientific developments from historical India, the Union minister mentioned the relevance of manuscripts referring to science and space era has been authorized by means of modern scientists of a few of leading era institutes. Emphasizing on putting a steadiness between outdated and new innovations, Singh mentioned, "Everything old can not be bad and everything can not be good what is new. Let's respect our tradition."


He added that holistic development of frame, mind and soul is more vital than mere becoming a technologist and scientist. "As a society, we traditionally valued and nurtured the knowledge-building activity and society as a whole seeks and rewards ideas, irrespective of where they originate and reside," mentioned Singh.


Stressing on industry-academia tie-up and its global connections, IIT-Guwahati director Gautam Biswas mentioned the location scenario at IIT-Guwahati for 2017-18 has been impressive. "Altogether, 120 companies from various categories and sectors participated in the recruitment process. The total number of registered students for campus placement in the year 2017-18 is 979. The overall placement of BTech and BDes students is 79.7% ," he adding. He further mentioned that a mean package deal introduced to BTech and BDes scholars of IIT-Guwahati is Rs 15.57 lakh according to annum.
