COIMBATORE: A 46-year-old remand prisoner used to be allegedly murdered through his cellmate in the Coimbatore Central Prison on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as M Ramesh, a resident of Peelamedu. Ramesh’s cellmate, M Vijay,19, of Perur murdered him through smashing his head with a stone round 12.30pm while he used to be slumbering on the corridor.
Both of them have been lodged in the prison in May in connection with different cases. As the duo are undergoing psychiatric treatment in the prison medical institution, they have been lodged in a separate tower, mentioned a prison legitimate.
The legitimate mentioned “aggravation of mental despair” might be the cause of the murder.
The Race Course police have been investigating the case.
