MBA grad steals jewellery from landlord’s house

CHENNAI: A 33-year-old guy, who claimed to be an MBA stage holder, was once arrested for allegedly stealing 12 sovereigns of gold jewellery from his landlord’s house at Thiru Vi Ka Nagar right here on Monday.
The guy, recognized as A Elamathi of Udankudi in Tuticorin district, informed police that it was once his first strive at stealing. However, police were checking if he had been keen on any previous crimes.

The Thiru Vi Ka Nagar police recovered the stolen jewellery from the house of his aunt, Pushpa, 70, at Sembium.

Elamathi informed the police that he completed MBA in a university in Madurai in 2006 and married Sivakala. He stayed at a rented house in Thiru Vi Ka Nagar paying three,900 as rent.

As he didn’t have correct wage, he struggled to make each ends meet. This forced him to scouse borrow valuables from landlord T Arivazhagan’s house when the latter went to a close-by store. Arivazhagan had left the doors unlocked as he would return quickly.

Elamathi took good thing about this chance, stole the gold jewellery from a safe in the house and returned to his house, next door.


When Elamathi informed his wife that he had stolen jewellery from the landlord’s house, she scolded him and asked him to stay the valuable back on the same safe. However, by the time he stepped out with the jewelry, Arivazhagan had returned home.


Elamathi put the jewelry in a plastic box and went to his aunt’s home. He gave the box to his aunt announcing that he would accumulate it later. He returned home through 8pm.


Meanwhile, Arivazhagan realised that anyone had stolen his jewellery and informed the police. The police questioning Arivazhagan’s neighbours, together with Elamathi. As he gave contradictory statements, the police wondered him additional and he admitted to having committed the crime.
