Minister hands over solatium to families of accident victims

Udhagamandalam: State delivery minister M R Vijayabaskar on Monday handed over solatium to the households of the eight sufferers of a bus coincidence that came about near Manthada at the Ooty-Coonoor Road on June 14. The minister dispersed a total sum of Rs 51 lakh to the beneficiaries.

Asked about the loss of availability of spare portions within the six depots of TNSTC within the Nilgiris district, the minister said that the topic would be looked after. “If the depots are found with insufficient spares, it could be supplied within two days,” Vijayabaskar said.


Mentioning that the Nilgiris section of state-owned corporation is making a loss, the minister said, “But the federal government is specific about the services rendered to the public. Out of the 2,000 new fleets ordered, about 39 were allocated to the Nilgiris district and 13 have already arrived.”
