LUDHIANA: An afternoon after videos of 2 industrialist brothers emptying an ash-like powder into the Doraha (First Patiala Feeder) canal went viral, a group of the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) visited their cycle parts manufacturing unit in Focal Point on Monday and found that “no commercial waste of black color soot” used to be generated via their unit.
The PPCB’s observation came on an afternoon Doraha police took observe of a grievance filed via the state irrigation division against the duo and lodged a daily diary file (DDR) on it.
PPCB chairperson Ok S Pannu confirmed that a two-member group visited the premises of Ganpati Impex, the cycle parts manufacturing unit owned via brothers Rajeev and Sanjeev Jain, and so they didn’t in finding any commercial waste there. He stated no byproduct of products manufactured within the manufacturing unit had been black and powdered. “We didn’t in finding any chemical or poisonous waste being generated on the unit,” he stated.
Pannu stated this meant the PPCB would not be capable of take any motion against the duo. “Now, it's for the police and irrigation division to probe the topic,” he stated.
In the meanwhile, a DDR used to be registered at Doraha police station on a grievance via the irrigation division underneath the Section 70 (5) of the Northern India Canal and Drainage Act. The SHO of Doraha police station, inspector Manjit Singh, stated the PPCB could summon the two individuals for an explanation or a civil go well with could be filed in court against them.
