Police directive on tarpaulin covers leaves auto passengers wet

MYSURU: While the city has been witnessing heavy rainfall during the last month and most people favor autorickshaws to achieve their destinations, the directive of site visitors police to autorickshaw drivers to use a tarpaulin sheet on only one aspect has infuriated passengers as they get sopping wet by the point they reach their vacation spot.

Usually, drivers use tarpaulin sheets to protect commuters from rain water, warmth and dirt. Autorickshaw driving force Mallesh mentioned site visitors police had instructed them not to use it on each side. "When it rains, we cover the right side of the vehicle with a tarpaulin sheet. Passengers on the left side get drenched with rain water. People now prefer to take cabs instead of autos when it rains," he mentioned.

Recently, when an autorickshaw driving force in Saraswathipruam used sheets on each side, police stopped the car and made him take away it on one aspect and let him off with a caution. "Since then, I cover the left side with a towel which I carry in the vehicle," mentioned autorickshaw driving force Gangadhar, including that police should allow sheets on each side until the monsoon ends.
