Private bus operators in Mysuru revise ticket fares

MYSURU: In a bid to offset the losses they're incurring owing to the day by day revision of diesel prices, personal bus operators have made up our minds to revise the cost of their tickets. The District Bus Owners’ Federation, which has made up our minds to revise the bus fare, has then again made up our minds to continue the concessional fare introduced to students and senior citizens.
The federation’s honorary general secretary Tayuru Vittalamurthy told TOI that the non-public bus operators had lowered the price ticket fares when the cost of diesel crashed to Rs 40. “Actually, this isn't a bus hike. The bus fare we're charging now was what we prior to lowering the price ticket value in 2014, and we've made up our minds to follow it,” he added.

Vittalamurthy said that non-public operators had been operating a bus fleet of 100, which operated along 400 routes. “Owing to the upward push in gasoline cost, we're left without a possibility but to put in force the pre-2014 fare,” he said.

Affirming that all operators would gather the same fare, Vittalamurthy said, “From 2014, what has been going down is that the price ticket fares varied moderately between other operators. For example, the fare for a journey between Mysuru and T Narasipura ranged between Rs 18 and Rs 20. Now, it has been increased to Rs 28, and all operators will charge the same fare.”

Transport division officials said that they had been in the means of scrutinising the brand new price ticket fares announced by way of personal bus operators.

Passengers are understandably perturbed with the hike in the price ticket fares. They identified that they trusted personal operators since the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) did not connect to all areas. “We travel day by day by way of personal buses, and a hike in the fare will consume into my day by day source of revenue. Bus homeowners are blaming the revision in diesel prices for this. The Centre will have to instantly take measures to deliver the cost of diesel down,” said Rudranna, who travels between Mysuru and Nanjangud day by day.
