Rain brings relief to Bhubaneswar residents from humidity

BHUBANESWAR/ANGUL: A brief spell of pre-monsoon rain on Saturday night time cooled down the capital city. People heaved a sigh of reduction from prime humidity started since Friday afternoon.
Similarly, Daringibadi in Kandhamal district, Jharsuguda, Talcher, Keonjhargarh and Cuttack received rainfall on Saturday. Except Sonepur and Titilagarh, temperature at different places has not crossed 40 stage Celsius, India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhubaneswar, resources said.

IMD Bhubaneswar director HR Biswas said pre-monsoon rain will make a favourable situation for monsoon onset within the state. “Intensity of rain will increase after June four. Heavy rain will happen at some places of the state earlier than the monsoon enters into the state,” he added.

Thundershower at the side of lightning will happen at some places within the state on Sunday, IMD resources said.


In Angul, a 13-year-old minor girl died and 6 others injured when lightning struck them at Kankadasuda village underneath Parjang police limits in Dhenkanal district on Saturday. The incident came about within the afternoon after they were amassing mahua flower.


The deceased has been recognized as Priyadarshini Naik from Kankadasuda village. All the injured have been admitted at Parjang primary health care centre. Their situation is stated to be standard.


Basant Kumar Mallik, Parjang BDO, said that each one help might be supplied in step with the norms of the federal government.
