Rain pounds Hyd, monsoon to hit state today

HYDERABAD: Every week after hitting the Kerala coast, the southwest monsoon is all set to go into Telangana on Friday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, mentioned in a climate update on Thursday.

IMD government mentioned the presence of an upper air cyclonic over west central Bay of Bengal and adjacent north Bay of Bengal, has made conditions beneficial for the monsoon to advance into Telangana.

"The southwest monsoon will first hit the southern districts and gradually extend to other districts in north Telangana. The intensity is very active over coastal Andhra Pradesh as all districts will receive heavy rainfall for the next three days," mentioned Raja Rao, meteorologist at IMD, Hyderabad.

The weathermen also issued a heavy rainfall caution, accompanied with thunderstorm and gusty winds, for Friday.

Pre-monsoon showers carry down most temperature by four degrees

Pre-monsoon showers lashed the city on Wednesday night, leading to water-logging and inundation in areas comparable to Kapra, Malkajgiri and East Anandbagh. The heavy showers that began round 2am persevered till early Thursday.
