Ready for takeoff: 113 IAF graduates in cockpit

HYDERABAD: Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa struck a nostalgic chord, recalling he was once a few of the 35 flight cadets who earned their ‘prestigious wings’ after passing out from the Air Force Academy at Dundigal, near right here, 40 years ago even as he heaped reward on 13 women cadets for effectively completing the route in flying colours.

After reviewing the combined graduation parade on Saturday wherein a total of 113 flight cadets, together with 13 women, graduated as flying officials, Dhanoa mentioned: “It is an overly nostalgic second for me as precisely 40 years ago I handed out from this academy. Out of the 70 flight cadets who were trained, handiest 35 won the wings. I am more than happy to be informed that 13 women cadets have effectively completed the route and a girl cadet had stood first in general order of benefit in floor accountability.” Congratulating the flying officials, he stressed out to indicate: “It is a matter of delight and honour to review the combined graduation parade and welcome the high quality men and women into the Indian Air Force as army aviation leaders.” He further mentioned: “There might be a young girl someplace and at somewhere who could have her eyes having a look at your performance.”

Eighty pilots, six navigators and 27 floor accountability officials got their coveted wings and brevets at the side of six Indian Navy officials and 5 officials of Indian Coast Guard. Abhishek Bajpai and Banti were awarded the President’s plaque for status first in general order of benefit in navigation and floor accountability branches respectively.
