COIMBATORE: As many as seven folks were killed in separate highway injuries in rural portions of the district over the last couple of days.
In the primary incident, R Ajay, 20, of Kottur, and his relative S Malathi, 21, of Somandurai Chittur, have been killed after a speeding truck crashed into their bike. Ajay was running an electrical spares portions shop at Kottur, whilst Malathi was hired with a textile mill at Karumathampatti.
The twist of fate took place when duo was travelling on Pollachi-Udumalpet highway on Monday. When they reached in front of Sundareswara generators, a speeding truck coming from the wrong way rammed their bike, killing them on the spot. The our bodies have been sent to the federal government clinic at Pollachi for postmortem. Gomangalam police have registered a case.
In the second incident, two migrant labourers have been killed after a speeding Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation Limited (TNSTC) bus rammed their moped. The deceased have been identified as R Sonukumar, 24, and R Aravind Kevid, 50, each hailing from Bihar.
According to police, the 2 have been travelling on Sulur-Thennampalayam highway on Sunday evening when the TSNTC bus coming from the wrong way crashed into their moped. The duo suffered critical injuries and was admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH), the place they died with out responding to the remedy on Monday.
Another local of Bihar was killed on Monday after a truck hit his bike on Coimbatore-Trichy highway near Arasur Pirivu. The deceased was identified as P Sajeevan, 25. Sulur police sent the body to CMCH and it was later handed over to the members of the family after the postmortem.
A 61-year-old man killed in every other twist of fate reported on L&T bypass highway near Madukkarai on Monday. The deceased was identified as M Shanmugasundaram, 61, of Chettipalayam Road at Podanur. According to police, he was killed after a speeding bike rammed his scooter. The body was handed over to the members of the family after the postmortem at CMCH. Madukkarai police have registered a case.
