'Ruthless' India will not take Afghanistan lightly: Ajinkya Rahane

BENGALURU: Afghanistan may well be novices however stand-in Test captain Ajinkya Rahane emphasised on the need to be "ruthless" in opposition to a Test aspect even though it's creating a debut on the big degree.

"We aren't going to take Afghanistan evenly. They have a good workforce...bowlers (are just right).

"As a Test workforce, we can't take any individual with no consideration as a result of cricket is a funny game. We wish to pass out there and be ruthless. Yes, we respect them as our fighters however it will be important for us to move out there and provides greater than our 100. We just need to be ruthless," Rahane said on Wednesday.

Like Dinesh Karthik, Rahane also did not wish to read an excessive amount of into Afghan captain Ashgar Stanikzai's observation about the visiting spinners being awesome to the Indian trio of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav.

"Every member will love to consider that their workforce is just right. We all know the stats however we do not wish to center of attention on the stats. Ashwin, Jadeja and Kuldeep are experienced spinners. On a given day, it is the mindset that makes a difference," Rahane said.

For Rahane, the final three days were about tuning out of the IPL.

"We have had a couple of apply periods in Bangalore and it used to be incredible. Coming again from IPL, it will be important that we educate our minds.

"Getting back to Test mode from T20 is about tuning our minds rather than focusing on skills. We are not going to take Afghanistan lightly."

No longer a simple task in the shorter formats, Rahane said he'll talk to the national variety committee in order to get a clearer image about his mode of preparation for the impending Test collection in England.

After the one-off Afghanistan Test match, Rahane has nothing to stay up for as he has been dropped from the limited-overs aspect which is going to UK first. The Test collection in opposition to England is scheduled to begin on August 1 after a limited-overs collection featuring three T20 Internationals and an equivalent selection of ODIs starting July three.

Asked what's going to he do for the following one and half months, a usually defensive Rahane let his guard down for second.

"See, I don't know what's going to happen after this Test match. But yeah, I will definitely have a word with the selectors," Rahane's indecisiveness used to be palpable earlier than he once more tightened his defences.

While there are talks that he might play a few games for India A, there is no legitimate phrase on the subject.

"But I will start my preparation in Mumbai as I always do at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). I always prepare intensely before each and every series but as of now the focus on this Test match. Each and every Test counts and we need to win this one," Rahane said.
