Soon, UP cops to get orders via text messages

ALLAHABAD: Seeking to better connectivity between ground-level team of workers and senior policemen, UP Police has launched a ‘bulk SMS machine’ which would enable it ship out rapid directions by way of textual content messages.
The facility is prone to bridge conversation gap between non-gazetted police team of workers and the higher ups.

As part of the ability, the police department would feed cell numbers of policemen from all eight zones of the state right into a Personal Number (PNO) machine.

The eight police zones in the state are Agra, Allahabad, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Meerut and Varanasi.

Once the ability is launched, all 1,81,127 (non-gazetted) team of workers of UP Police could be receiving SMSes from senior police officials immediately.

SP (protocol) Purnendu Singh said, "Almost 72% of the mobile numbers of policemen from across the state have already been added and the remaining numbers would be added in the PNO system soon."


While Agra, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Kanpur,Varanasi and Meerut zones have taken the lead in compiling the cell numbers of policemen and updating the PNO machine, Allahabad and Lucknow zones are nonetheless lagging behind.


In Allahabad zone, most effective 57% of the numbers—15,590 numbers—had been added to the PNO machine. In Lucknow zone, most effective 56% of the cell numbers had been added.


In a missive to his subordinates, UP director basic of police OP Singh directed to make certain that the process of compiling cell numbers of policemen is finished at the earliest.


The SP(protocol), said, "Once the names of all policemen are added in the PNO system, they would be receiving instructions about operations and campaigns directly from the top state police officials in the state via text messages."
