BENGALURU: Efforts are underway to deliver the now estranged Lingayat and Veerashaiva communities below a single umbrella.
This building comes a year after the Lingayats had sought a separate faith standing and a split from the Veerashaiva bloc. The Jagruta Lingayat Samudaya has set three riders if talks with the All-India Veerashaiva Mahasabha (AIVM) were to prevail.
The determination of the Siddaramaiah govt to just accept the Lingayats’ demand and provides them the minority faith tag, singed the Congress and cost three ministers, who had sponsored the motion, their seats within the meeting polls.
Lingayat discussion board convener SM Jaamdar on Sunday said the community is in a position to talk about the problem with the Veerashaiva Mahasabha, however the riders aren’t “pre-conditions” for talks.
