GANGTOK: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu's two-day Sikkim visit was cancelled on Friday because of inclement climate, officers stated.
An ICFAI University spokesperson informed the target market at the convocation function that Naidu may just now not attend the function as permission may just now not be granted for the vice president's aircraft to take off for Gangtok from Bagdogra because of inclement climate.
The vice president tweeted "Reached Bagdogra to proceed to Gangtok, Sikkim, today. Since the weather is not permitting us, I am planning to proceed to Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh."
The vice president was scheduled to preside over convocation of the ICFAI University and visit the National Research Centre for Orchid at Pakyong, about 35 km from the state capital.
