Woman refuses to withdraw molestation plaint, called vitiator by panchayat

Rohtak: A 30-year-old girl, who filed a molestation criticism against her neighbour, has been criticised through village panchayat in Fatehabad district after she allegedly refuse to withdraw the case against the accused. The complainant hails from Sangrur district of Punjab and had shifted to Fatehabad district after marriage.
In her compliant at the Jakhal police station on May 21, the girl mentioned she used to be on my own at her area and used to be taking a tub when her neighbour, a mason through profession, had scaled the wall of the home and molested her inside of the toilet. Following the incident, she called her father from Punjab and were given a case registered against the accused underneath sections 354 (outraging modesty), 454 (trespassing), 452 (wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing harm) of the Indian Penal code at Jakhal police station.

She alleged that the panchayat contributors accompanied through more than a 100 others came to her area and pressurized her to withdraw the case. But, she outright refused to do so.

Angry panchayat contributors handed a resolution in which they held the girl as the person who used to be vitiating the ambience of their village. They accused her of being a habitual liar and asked police not to take her severely. A replica of the resolution used to be submitted to Jakhal deputy superintendent of police (DSP).


Talking to TOI, the complainant, who has a school-going son, mentioned she had married 13 years ago and her husband used to be a labourer. She mentioned they did not have a sound monetary background and her husband worked hard to make each ends meet. She mentioned the accused now not simplest molested her but also threatened her with dire penalties.


She mentioned she met the Fatehabad superintendent of police (SP) and Jakhal DSP up to now 20 days and also wrote to the Haryana DGP but to no avail.


Jakhal DSP Joginder Sharma mentioned they did not arrest the accused as they may now not come across any incriminating proof. Regarding the resolution handed through the village panchayat, he mentioned it did not affect their investigation because the police were carrying out their own investigation.
