GURUGRAM: MCG demolished 100 shanties in front of CHD Avenue society in Fazilpur Jharsa on Saturday morning.
The demolition drive was performed below the supervision of accountability Justice of the Peace and joint commissioner Ravindra Yadav. As many as 50 law enforcement officials have been a part of the operation on a non-public land which have been illegally occupied through the land mafia.
“The ‘pucca’ shanties have been being rented out to labourers operating on within sight initiatives and building websites,” mentioned Yadav.
The shanty-dwellers have been given multiple notices to vacate the area, failing which the demolition drive was performed, mentioned officers. Earlier on Saturday, MCG commissioner Yashpal Yadav inspected the area, following which orders have been issued to clear the shanties.
CHD Avenue citizens have been writing to the MCG commissioner for the removing of the unlawful shanties, alleging the land mafia built the same to earn rent money. “We had been rigorously following up with MCG officers for the removing of these buildings whose occupants have been developing nuisance and raising sanitation concerns through defecating within the open. Overall, it was unlawful and we are happy that the civic frame has after all taken motion,” mentioned Rajan Chibbar, RWA member, CHD Avenue 71.
Several unlawful slums had been developed and are run through the land mafia in Sikanderpur, South City 1 and different spaces across the city.
Recently, a fireplace broke out in a slum, which have been illegally built on Huda land in Sector 49, lowering 150 shanties to ashes.
