CHENNAI: At least 22 males together with safety guards, elevator operators and plumbers at an condo complex in Purasawalkam right here sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl with a listening to dysfunction for more than seven months, police said on Monday.
Investigators have arrested 18 of the suspects and are on the lookout for others involved in the horrific crime in the center of town.
The perpetrators sedated the Class VII girl with injections, drug-laced soft drinks and a powder that they made her sniff sooner than sexually assaulting her and videographed themselves in the act, an investigating officer said. They blackmailed the kid into silence for a protracted length with the threat of freeing the videos and by menacing her with violence, he said.
“This persevered until the girl on Saturday informed her older sister, a college pupil on a discuss with home from Delhi, in regards to the trauma she was going through,” officer said. “The sister informed their oldsters, who filed a complaint with the Ayanavaram all ladies police.”
The girl informed police that Ravi Kumar, 66, an elevator operator in the largely unoccupied 300-flat complex, first sexually assaulted her. Three days later he introduced two males reeking of alcohol from out of doors the complex who videotaped themselves raping her. Other males quickly joined in, sexually assaulting the kid again and again.
“Ravi would lead away the kid once she alighted from her faculty van to the basement, public washrooms, the terrace and gymnasium, the place he and his accomplices raped her,” the officer said. “Many of the flats had been vacant so the suspects had little hindrance while committing the crime.”
The suspects arrested in the crime had been all workers FOCUS, a security firm, and UK Facility Services, Chennai.
“The girl’s father was away at work through many of the day,” the officer said. “Her mother, a homemaker, didn't suppose the rest was amiss when the girl got here home late from faculty. She assumed that her daughter was playing with friends in the complex.”
The girl’s oldsters took her to Kilpauk Medcial College and Hospital for remedy on Sunday. After inspecting and speaking to the girl, docs at the clinic discovered that a number of males had raped her.
Police on Monday had her observation recorded in a mahila courtroom after arresting 18 suspects and charging them below the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
“We have sent seized syringes and an empty soft drink bottle to the forensics laboratory to resolve what medication they used,” the officer said, adding that investigators had also sent seized condoms for tests.
