Conmen posing as cops target elderly women, steal jewellery; seven booked

GURUGRAM: Beware. Fraudsters are posing as policemen to trick you out of your money and jewelry. And to make issues worse, they’re now focused on aged women in upscale areas of town. On Monday morning, seven men conned two aged women in their gold chains and bangles and replaced them with pretend adorns earlier than fleeing, consistent with police.

“One of them gave me a polythene bag and requested me to stay my jewelry in it. They claimed snatchers are on prowl within the space. I kept my gold chain within the bag and went home. Upon reaching home, I opened the bag simplest to realise that it had a faux gold chain in it,” Mishra said.


Acting on her criticism, police registered an FIR in opposition to three men under sections 420 (dishonest), 34 (not unusual intention) of IPC at Sushant Lok police station. “We have registered the case, and are seeking to determine the accused with the assistance of CCTV pictures,” said ASI Suresh Kumar, who is investigating the case.
