HYDERABAD: The scarcity of professionally-run mental healthcare centres is leading to mushrooming of unlawful drug and alcohol de-addiction centres across the city. One such de-addiction centre which used to be being operated from Malakpet used to be misleading the Central and State govt government via using solid documents.

The de-addiction centre working via the title New Hope Association used to be receiving finances from the Central govt below the scheme for prevention of alcoholism and substance abuse for establishment of 50 bedded remedy cum rehabilitation centre in the city.

Activists who unearthed this unlawful alcohol and drug de-addiction centre said the ability used to be being run from a rented area in Malakpet, which isn't registered for working a de-addiction centre.

During an inspection via DM&HO Hyderabad in 2015, it used to be discovered that Dr Hari Kumar Ravva, who used to be running at New Hope Association for psychiatric remedy of sufferers since 2014, used to be also running full-time at Dr VRK Women's Medical College at Aziznagar and at Mind Crest Hospital of Psychiatry and Rehabilitation at Malakpet.

Activists campaigning in opposition to unlawful de-addiction centres are demanding a stringent motion in opposition to the founder of New Hope Association and different unlawful de-addiction centres in the city.
