Eight-time Mount Everest climber Pemba Sherpa missing in Karakoram

DARJEELING: Eight-time Mount Everest climber Pemba Sherpa has long past missing whilst returning with a crew of mountaineers after successfully scaling the 7,672 metre-high Saser Kangri top in the Karakoram range.

According to police assets, the seasoned mountaineer from Darjeeling fell right into a crevasse on Friday.

Pemba's spouse told journalists that the family misplaced all communications with him since July 13 and she or he is hoping for a miracle to see her husband again.

"Last Friday, a representative of Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) brought the news that Pemba Sherpa is missing," she stated.

According to local police assets, an ITBP crew has began engaging in searches on the spot from this morning.

The Darjeeling management may be retaining a close watch on the tendencies.

"We are worried about Pemba. He was a skilled person," Animesh Basu of Himalayan Nature and Adventure Foundation (NAF) in Siliguri stated.


The crew of mountaineers that Pemba used to be leading had begun its adventure from Kolkata on June 20.
