Enforcement Directorate files chargesheet against ex-HP CM's son

NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) these days filed a chargesheet in a Delhi court in opposition to Virbhadra Singh's son Vikramaditya in a cash laundering case additionally involving the former Himachal Pradesh chief minister.

Anand Chauhan, arrested on July 9, 2016 via the ED under related provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002, used to be granted bail on January 2 within the case.

In a separate case filed via the Central Bureau of Investigation in relation to the topic, the former Himachal Pradesh chief minister, his spouse and Chauhan had been chargesheeted together with others.

The couple, who've now not been arrested to this point in any of the two instances, and the opposite accused are going through trial within the CBI case.


The different accused within the CBI case are Chunni Lal Chauhan, stamp paper supplier Joginder Singh Ghalta, Managing Director of Tarani Infrastructure Vakamulla Chandrasekhar, and co-accused Lawan Kumar Roach, Prem Raj and Ram Prakash Bhatia.


The CBI had claimed that Virbhadra Singh had accumulated property value around Rs 10 crore which were disproportionate to his overall income all through his tenure as a Union minister.


The topic used to be transferred via the Supreme Court to the Delhi High Court which, on April 6, 2016, requested the CBI to not arrest Singh and directed him to join the probe.


On November 5 ultimate year, the apex court transferred Singh's plea from the Himachal Pradesh High Court to the Delhi High Court, saying it used to be now not expressing any opinion at the merits of the case, but "simply" moving the petition "in the interest of justice and to save the institution (judiciary) from any embarrassment".
