CHENNAI: Eighteen out of the 29 Mansarovar pilgrims from Tamil Nadu who had been stranded in Nepal due to bad weather will arrive in Chennai on Wednesday night time, chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami knowledgeable the meeting. “Eighteen pilgrims – hailing from other parts the state -- have reached Lucknow. They will achieve right here tonight,” the manager minister said.
Palaniswami said one pilgrim, recognized as Ramachandran from Theni district, had died. “Ramachandran may not entire his adventure. He felt breathlessness and died. His son and daughter have reached Kathmandu where the frame is saved,” said the manager minister.
Officials from Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi had been coordinating with the Indian embassy in Kathmandu to deliver back the mortal remains of Ramachandran, he added.
Responding to a question raised by way of leader of the opposition M K Stalin concerning the steps taken by way of the government to deliver back the pilgrims, the manager minister said, “Soon after it came to be recognized that pilgrims from Tamil Nadu had been stranded in Nepal due to bad weather, two officers in Tamil Nadu House in Delhi had been despatched to coordinate the rescue efforts and make sure the safe go back of the stranded pilgrims,” Palaniswami said.
He said efforts had been on to deliver the rest 11 pilgrims. “Four other folks from Krishnagiri and six others from Theni also went for pilgrimage. Efforts are on to ensure their safe go back,” he said.
