BHUBANESWAR: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has decided to make the new Bhubaneswar station operational prior to Rath Yatra, which falls on July 14.
Braj Mohan Agarwal, divisional railway supervisor (Khurda Road), here on Friday said, "Initially, three passenger trains will stop at the station. Later, express and superfast trains will also halt there." Though paintings on the station began in 2012, the date for its inauguration used to be altered twice in three years because of a change of the company engaged through the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) for the undertaking. Until now, the Railways has spent about Rs 28 crore on the undertaking. The station has nine railway lines, five of which can be already in use, seven platforms and two foot bridges. Water kiosks, price tag counters and benches have already been build and electrical apparatus installed. Construction of the station development, workforce quarters and an method highway used to be completed remaining 12 months.
Situated about 14km from the main station close to Master Canteen, the new station lies between Mancheswar and Barang stations. It will principally serve passengers from Barang, Nandankanan, Raghunathpur, Kalarahanga, KIIT area, Patia and within reach spaces.
