Mysuru: As expected, Mysuru gained a fair share in the state budget with chief minister H D Kumaraswamy saying budgetary allocation for the long-pending Hale Unduwadi drinking water challenge.
This challenge targets at getting Cauvery water from the KRS backwaters, not like now when water is being lifted from canals. The challenge is designed to deal with Mysuru’s water wishes for a century.
In his budget speech, HDK announced that with a view to permanently remove drinking water drawback of Mysuru and 92 villages, this scheme will probably be applied at an estimated cost of Rs 50 crore.
According to sources, as soon as the challenge is applied, town and its neighboring villages will get additional 300 MLD water from Cauvery. This challenge will probably be applied in Hale Unduwadi village at the outskirts of town.
