NEW DELHI: Promising wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been included in India's Test squad for the primary 3 fits of the five-Test series at the ongoing excursion of England, whilst swing bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar's again injury is being carefully monitored.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) variety committee met in Leeds on Wednesday to select the Test squad, which will be led through Virat Kohli, with Ajinkya Rahane as his deputy.
"Bhuvneshwar aggravated a lower back condition in the third ODI against England. His condition is being assessed by the BCCI medical team and a call on his inclusion in the Test squad will be made soon," the board's performing honorary secretary, Amitabh Choudhary, mentioned in a media advisory.
Bhuvneshwar has not been named in the 18-member squad.
Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, recovering from an injury, has been included in the squad however will handiest be available to play from the second Test onward.
Chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav is the 3rd spinner in the squad besides regular choices Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Shardul Thakur has also been stored in the 18 as back-up for the pace quartet of Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and the injured Bumrah.
Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara will fly to England as Test consultants, together with Karun Nair.
The variety committee also announced the Board President's XI squad to tackle South Africa A in a three-day warm-up recreation in Belgaum from July 30.
