COIMBATORE: Senior police officers are investigating an incident wherein a stone hit a car wherein Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi Okay Palaniswami was travelling from Coimbatore to Salem on Wednesday evening, a couple of unbiased assets showed to TOI. However, the police officers declined to make an official observation.
On Wednesday evening, the executive minister arrived on the Coimbatore International Airport from Chennai to take part in the ceremonial tournament tomorrow to open the sluice gates of the Mettur dam.
After a short lived interaction with reporters, his convoy hit the street to proceed to his native land Salem. When the convoy crossed Coimbatore border and entered Tirupur district, a stone hit the CM’s car, said the assets who travelled in the convoy.
The convoy was stopped immediately, and the executive minister was prompt to go back and forth in every other car for safety causes.
A police crew began inquiries. Top officers from West Zone held a meeting with Tirupur district police officers on Wednesday evening.
Police would examine whether the stone was aimed on the CM’s convoy and who had thrown it, said the assets.
Police presence alongside the Salem-Coimbatore stretch was reinforced as the executive minister travelled back at the route to take a flight to Chennai from Coimbatore airport on Thursday evening, as scheduled.
On Thursday, the executive minister opened sluice gates of the Mettur dam to free up Cauvery water for irrigation. He attended a couple of different functions in Salem.
