CHENNAI: The state govt will set up 32 IAS find out about centres in all district headquarters in two months, mentioned college education minister Okay A Sengottaiyan on Tuesday.
Speaking to newshounds after inaugurating the Regional Public Libraries Conference at M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) on Tuesday, Sengottaiyan mentioned the IAS find out about centres will be functioning from the respective govt public libraries in every district. "Libraries have helped IAS aspirants a lot, particularly those in the remote areas of Tamil Nadu. We are now going to make the public libraries study centres for IAS in all districts," he mentioned.
The minister announced 10 lakh for engaging in meetings on public libraries once a year. "The state government has allotted funds to upgrade major libraries across Tamil Nadu, including the Anna Centenary Library in Chennai. The government will provide 10 lakh for conducting conferences on public libraries every year. I hope such annual conference will help update the existing facilities in the libraries," he mentioned.
To create awareness amongst students about our tradition and heritage, the hot findings of the Keezhadi excavations will be displayed for the scholars soon, Sengottaiyan mentioned. "We are planning to display the recent findings of the Keezhadi excavations before the students. This will help them know more about our culture and heritage," he mentioned.
Sengottaiyan also introduced the "public library app, 'Connecting Communities'. It is an android-based software of MSSRF and Indian Public Library Movement (IPLM) which provides details about products and services offered through public libraries. It will help the customers to find the closest libraries and find data at the availability of quite a lot of books and products and services, he mentioned. A memorandum of working out used to be also signed between V C Rameswaramurugan, TN director of college education and director of public libraries, V Selvam, govt director, MSSRF, and Shubhangi Sharma, govt director, IPLM in an endeavour to redefine the role of public libraries as knowledge centres in India.
Veteran agriculture scientist and founding father of MSSRF M S Swaminathan mentioned, "We wish to make a stronger effort to bridge the data hole between folks. Only libraries can dispel myths and empower voters," mentioned Swaminathan.
