NEW DELHI: The executive on Tuesday said one of the crucial Rohingya dwelling in India wouldn't have the standing of "refugee" but are "illegal migrants" who would be deported as soon as their details were prepared.
"Their entry is illegal. They are living here illegally. There is no question of providing them any facility from the government... We are not here for giving rights to illegal migrants," said MoS Home Kiren Rijiju while responding to individuals' questions in Lok Sabha. He also said the government had stories, appearing Rohingyas' involvement in "illegal activities", even though he refused to present details."There is no need to reveal those details," said Rijiju all the way through Question Hour.
The opposition TMC member, Sugata Bose, on the other hand, sought to have a look at the issue with a special standpoint while asking his query. He wanted to grasp whether India is prepared to abide through all global rules and whether the rustic will honour its tradition of giving safe haven to all persecuted people, especially refugees. Rijiju, on the other hand, hit back, pronouncing he used to be saddened through Bose's stand.
Union home minister Rajnath Singh knowledgeable the House that even though states have a right below the Foreigners Act to deport illegal migrants, states were directed to hold out enumeration of such illegal immigrants.
