BANIHAL (J&Okay): The 270km Jammu-Srinagar national highway, the only all-weather avenue linking Kashmir with the rest of the country, was once closed these days as in a single day rains triggered a landslide in Ramban district, officers said.
The landslide took place close to the Block Development Office at Ramsoo within the wee hours, blocking off the arterial avenue, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramban, Anita Sharma said.
She added that the landslide left rankings of cars stranded on both sides.
A road-clearance operation was once introduced and efforts were on to revive the road within the shortest imaginable time, Sharma said.
A visitors department official said a minimum of 5 more hours were required to revive visitors at the highway.
