The opening fit of the Asia Cup within the United Arab Emirates on Saturday witnessed an act of bravado through veteran Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal, who, after retiring harm, returned to bat one-handed in a last-wicket stand that helped his team pass previous 250 against Sri Lanka on the Dubai International Stadium.
Tamim fractured the little finger of his left hand after a supply from Suranga Lakmal hit him on the glove whilst making an attempt a pull shot. He used to be taken to the clinic, where a scan showed the fracture ruling him out of the event.
But he returned to a rapturous applause when Bangladesh lost their ninth wicket within the 47th over and confronted one ball using simply the right hand in his partnership with Mushfiqur Rahim (144) so as to add 32 runs and take the team's general to 261 all out in 49.3 overs.
The video of the backfoot defence he performed with simply his right hand then went viral on social media.
Tamim will go back home and his place could be taken through Nazmul Hossain Shanto.
