Centre rubbishes CM’s temple plaint

BHUBANESWAR: Union culture minister Mahesh Sharma on Thursday replied to a contemporary letter written through leader minister Naveen Patnaik expressing apprehension concerning the restore of the Konark Sun Temple. Quoting media studies that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) was once spoiling Konark’s good looks in the identify of restore, Naveen had sought Sharma’s intervention. Lauding ASI for its efforts, the Union minister stated the problems raised through Naveen are not justified and the allegations are not honest.


The Union minister in his letter stated conservation work of monuments is a ‘continuous process’. “For structural steadiness, where there is not any proof of any carvings, plain stone work has been applied. However, some restorations of authentic options had been completed...The observation of alternative of 40% of authentic carvings isn't true as nowhere such action has been taken,” Sharma wrote.


Director basic of ASI, Usha Sharma, also wrote to the manager secretary of the state searching for a date for a gathering with her crew at Bhubaneswar. She discussed in her letter that all of the 79 monuments protected through ASI in Odisha together with Sun Temple Konark are maintained and conserved through the ASI as according to the conservation norms following international standards. “Full consideration is paid through our native place of job at Bhubaneswar for care of these monuments,” Sharma wrote.


State culture minister Ashok Panda stated, “We have taken the Konark Temple issue very severely.”
