Govt extends ban on eight insurgent groups of Manipur by 5 years

NEW DELHI: A ban on 8 rebellion teams in Manipur has been extended by way of the government for 5 extra years for his or her persisted involvement in unlawful and violent actions, the Home Ministry stated on Tuesday.


The teams have openly declared their targets of formation of an unbiased Manipur by way of secession from India, using and attractive in armed way to reach their function besides attacking security forces, police and govt staff, it stated.


The organisations banned under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act are (i) Peoples' Liberation Army generally known as PLA and its political wing, (ii) Revolutionary Peoples' Front (RPF), (iii) United National Liberation Front (UNLF) and its armed wing Manipur Peoples' Army (MPA), (iv) Peoples' Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) and its armed wing, 'Red Army', (v) Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) and its armed wing, often known as 'Red Army', (vi) Kanglei Yaol Kanba Lup (KYKL), (vii) the Coordination Committee (CorCom) and (viii) Alliance for Socialist Unity Kangleipak (ASUK), a home ministry notification stated.


The five-year ban on some of these teams lapsed recently, thus necessitating stating them outlawed for a contemporary spell of 5 years, a home ministry respectable stated.
