Both offers are topic to approval by means of the European Commission.

“Our intention shall be to expand close-working relationships with respective governments, trade unions and other local stakeholders in Belgium and Luxembourg to optimise and enhance the value of these historical assets which might be important for the regional and nationwide economies,” said Gupta, the 47-year-old govt chairman of GFG Alliance.

Liberty Steel, headquartered in London, is a department of Liberty House, which is a part of Gupta’s $15-billion GFG Alliance, which has a workforce of 14,000. The sites are winning assets and Liberty said it was committed to preserving jobs at them.

“These vegetation are an important and logical addition to our expanding, built-in European provide chain. By coming into those key markets and expanding our footprint, we’re embedding our European presence and bolstering our aggressive position the world over,” added GFG Alliance’s chief funding officer Jay Hambro.
