Should men try manarkali?

Anarkali is a frock-style kurta, which has a flowing silhouette. It can also be long and quick, relying on the style of the highest. It has been a highly regarded conventional drape from women. However, for males, this drape has been underrated in ethnic type. The pattern of manarkali (a term for anarkali for males) is not something new, which is set breaking gender stereotypes! This kurta has a regal really feel to it and the royal kings in India have worn this drape many centuries in the past.

When Ranveer Singh wore an anarkali by means of Sabyasachi for his mehendi ceremony, his kurta were given numerous combined opinions on the net. An Instagram account rightly commented on the photograph, "People are so strange. Royal kings have worn anarkalis and men today are so insecure that they call it feminine. First of all, feminine isn't bad. Secondly, this isn't even feminine. Ranveer is a secure man, who can carry this style with panache."

We couldn't agree more with this remark and once we requested a groom-to-be, Varun Sharma to remark on the pattern, he said he feels it's about trying what suits you and no longer experimenting with peculiar trends. "This is a very metrosexual trend and every sherwani shop has already shown me this kurta. You will easily spot it the market these days. When it comes personal style, I don't think every man can pull off a manarkali or even something like skinny pants. For my wedding, I will stick to a plain kurta under my sherwani, as I feel you should not follow trends, but actually, wear what suits you!"

"Inspired by royalty, the flared angrakha tunics and kalli kurtas are making a major come back in men’s fashion. However, not suitable for all body types, this style works well on leaner men. For those keen on experimenting with silhouettes, the key to making this work is keeping it minimal. A kallidar kurta complimented with an under-toned structured overlay jacket and a churidaar is something, a first-time experimenter can try on," says Designer, Kunal Anil Tanna

While popular type blogger, Mr Ranawat, is all recreation for this pattern. "Bandhgala and nehru jacket is my first option for any occasion but I really like the new trend of the anarkali. I feel it brings a different charm to the individual as everyone wears the same thing at weddings functions and ceremonies. With this trend, you can surely get an exclusive feel!"

This frock-style kurta is all about carrying your manakrali with swag. "They can be paired with elegant half jackets or full-length bandhgala," says Ravi Gupta, Head Designer at Gargee Designers

To blow their own horns the flares, you'll put on a short-style jacket, it's going to provide you with a unusual look. If you do not need to experiment much, you'll keep on with a minimum look and work it under a protracted bandhgala jacket.

"The anarkali kurta for men has been a signature with a lot of established designers like Sabyasachi and Rohit Bal. There are many modern versions of this Mughal silhouettes available today. It looks elegant and royal on tall men and the manakarli is surely a new modern take on a men's kurta," says Harsh Datta, Design Head, Ethnic Wear at Tailorman
