Two thieves held; 55 theft cases cracked

Rajkot: Two thieves have been arrested from the Jewellers Circle in Bhavnagar and 55 robbery cases detected on Thursday.

Police recovered Rs 7 lakh in cash, one LED, three laptops, three cell phones and two bikes, two silver cash from Sahjad Pathan (28), a resident of Moti Talav locality in Bhavnagar, Shivlal Vadgama alias Budho (26), a resident of Bharatnagar locality in Bhavnagar.


During interrogation, the arrested duo named their accomplices as Ramzan Qureshi and Riaz alias Pappi, each citizens of Botad, Riaz Rasul Sipahi and Farzan alias Bhailu from Bhavnagar, Ehsan Diwan and Ilyas Valiya from Ranpur village of Botad taluka.


“The accused confessed to having dedicated 20 thefts in Rajkot, 17 thefts in Bhavnagar, 15 thefts in Botad and 3 thefts in Gariadhar. They said that they used to dump the stolen booty to at least one Gafar Choksi in Kadi of Mehsana district,” said N G Jadeja, sub-inspector of Bhavnagar native crime branch.
