Administration to focus on housing, employment for SC/ST population: DC

MANGALURU: Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil on Saturday announced that a land and housing scheme for nomadic, semi-nomadic, susceptible band more-vulnerable among SC/STs in Dakshina Kannada district can be implemented shortly. The income division and Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat have collectively formulated an action plan on this regard.

Instructions have already been given to tehshildars to spot land for housing scheme, Ravichandra Naik, assistant commissioner, said.


Hemalatha, ITDP officer, said 814 nomadic families had been identified in the district. The steps had also been taken to carry out a survey of socio-economic and well being standing of the Koraga neighborhood in the district, the officer said.
