GUWAHATI: Andhra Pradesh CM and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader N Chandrababu Naidu has assured a delegation of the All Assam Students' Union (Aasu) that his party will oppose the contentious Citizenship (Amendment), 2016, at the nationwide degree.
During a gathering with Aasu leaders at Amaravati on Monday, Naidu said the TDP representative at the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the citizenship bill has been asked to oppose the proposed legislation, which seeks to grant citizenship to persecuted non secular minorities from the Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan. TDP has one MP within the 30-member JPC. tnn
