Ban on entry of heavy vehicles in Allahabad from January 1

ALLAHABAD: The police division has drawn a new visitors plan for the city to ease the chaos on roads in the run as much as the Kumbh-2019 and it will be implemented January 1 onwards.

Traffic inspector, Rakesh Pratap Singh, said, “Heavy vehicles like trucks and trailers would not be allowed into city limits. Vehicles with particular permits\ passes could be allowed to return as much as areas on Allahabad’s outskirts only.” Areas like Jhunsi, Naini, Phaphamau and Dhoomanganj lie on the city’s outskirts. He also said trucks or vehicles with permits could be allowed to enter against city’s outskirts only between 11pm and 5am.


Singh said that the constraints could be offered at GT Jawahar and Fort Road crossing in order that guests arriving at Mela flooring to take a dip in Sangam do not face any issues.


Traffic police said that they were planning to make some routes one-way. The division plans to transform some routes in Jhunsi, Naini and adjacent areas into one-way streets for easy transportation. Mela officials have also directed officials of public works division and different departments like energy and Jal Nigam to finish all preparation for parking slots to be set up at the Mela flooring. The Kumbh mela visitors police have set up 95 parking slots for guests coming from all around the country for the grand congregation.
