Brakes on fraud run of driver who conned many as DM

NOIDA: Mani Tyagi (24), a driver, sought after a existence past power steerings, one the place he may just wield true power. So he gave himself a new identity: IAS officer Vishal Kumar.
For several months, this ‘officer’ — who known himself as a district magistrate, spoke in a rasping tone and was unusually forthright in telling government officers which issue to soak up and what to ignore — managed to keep up the ruse of authority. But the bubble had to burst and it did on Saturday when police noticed Tyagi for who he was. Head down, handcuffed, visibly afraid, and stripped of his manufactured IAS trappings, Tyagi was marched via a posse of policemen into Badalpur police station and booked below sections 419 (impersonating) and 420 (dishonest) of the IPC, which carries a most prison time period of 7 years.

Tyagi was arrested from Dujana village in Greater Noida, the place he was hiding. Police stated he was trying to get paintings executed in favour of other people known to him in alternate for cash.

Tyagi, a resident of Sahibabad, would call up senior officers with authority to take choices in any government division if someone paid him sufficient to get his paintings executed. A driver via profession, he would establish himself as Vishal Kumar, a 2005-batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, and get directives handed in his favour.

Police stated he was taking part in this authority for the previous several months until he dialled the selection of SP (rural) Vineet Jaiswal last week. Tyagi sought after Jaiswal to clear the papers for a automotive that his buddy Chaman sought after to sell. In the process, he gave away.

“His language was rather unbecoming of a senior reliable. He would establish himself as a district magistrate, however would by no means title the district. He would say he's a DM from Rajasthan. I doubted his intentions when he called me up to get a piece as minor as getting approval for a automotive’s papers executed,” Jaiswal stated.

According to the officer, Tyagi had made calls to the income tax, land income and shipping departments. At instances, he would call up station area officers of various police stations and allegedly get them to drop circumstances towards his acquaintances.

Tyagi’s orders raised extra eyebrows when he called up the SHO of Badalpur police station a few days again.

“He have been calling again and again for a minor case to be resolved. I doubted him via the way he spoke over the phone. My suspicion changed into stronger when he mentioned the batch 12 months (2005) once I asked him about his state cadre. I asked an officer to place his cell phone on surveillance. He was tracked and then arrested,” Jaiswal stated.

Tyagi charged a price for purchasing orders handed and hurdles cleared for his pals. “Police are monitoring his financial institution accounts and other monetary main points,” Jaiswal stated. He graduated from LR College in Sahibabad last 12 months. His mother is a number one teacher in a non-public college in Ghaziabad and his father works with a CA firm.

“Police have recovered a cell phone from him. But the phone is not the only with which he would make the calls. We are analyzing his call records. He had made calls to the income tax, sales and several other other departments,” Jaiswal stated. “When he was puzzled, he vehemently denied all the allegations towards him. Then, he confessed to the crime,” the SP added.

Tyagi, on the other hand, has an IAS connection, far-off despite the fact that it can be. His employer — he works as a driver — is the brother of a 2016-batch IAS officer of Tripura cadre.
